FLUWS
Flexible Upcycled Waste Material based Sensible Thermal Energy Storage for CSP
The Horizon Europe funded project FLUWS aims to develop and validate, in 36 months, an adaptable, dependable, environmentally friendly, and cost-efficient thermal energy storage (TES) system for next generation concentrating solar power (CSP) plants. The project targets high thermal efficiency with minimal environmental impact by repurposing waste from the ceramic industry and utilizing air as a heat transfer fluid.
RPOW’s tasks within the consortium:
- Pilot installation evaluation and upscaling recommendation up to TRL-9
- Study of possible industrial integrations of the developed technology
- Definition of KPIs for evaluating the process

This project is funded by European Union Horizon Europe Grant Agreement No 101147257 and it is supported by UKRI with project No 10138937.
